Waste Management - Alliance Landfill

Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania

ARM completed the permitting and design for Waste Management’s Alliance Sanitary Landfill Area 2A Reconfiguration. ARM was responsible for all engineering and permitting support from conceptual layout analysis to final design.

ARM was able to accomplish this reconfiguration through a Minor Permit Modification Application submitted to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection , saving WM the cost and hassle of submitting a major modification. The reconfiguration optimized the design of Area 2A to minimize the construction costs associated with providing the permitted 30.5 million CY of airspace. This optimization included reducing the quantity of MSE Berm construction, redesigning the subgrade to minimize rock excavation, preserving the existing operations facilities, and re-designing the stormwater facilities to eliminate the need to construct two large dams.

Project Highlights
