State Game Lands 34 Wetland Mitigation

The State Game Lands 34 Wetland Mitigation project involved the creation of 11 acres of wetland habitat to offset unavoidable impacts resulting from an economic development / industrial site expansion. The development of the mitigation site on public lands maximized access for recreation as well as created a habitat benefit for wildlife. 

Project Highlights

  • The project was designed within an existing wetland complex to increase the opportunity for successful establishment.   
  • The design included a series of shallow excavations and low embankments to create 11 acres of wetlands which added to the existing 2.75-acre wetland complex for a total wetland system of 13.75 acres.
  • Adjacent berms and disturbed access areas were converted to deer and elk food plots, supplementing the Game Commission’s current efforts.
