armadmin • May 20, 2017

ARM joined approximately 500 volunteers at the Flight 93 National Memorial to plant thousands of tree seedlings across 17 acresto honor the actions of the passengers and crew of Flight 93 on September 11, 2001.

The “Plant a Tree at Flight 93” Event, hosted by the Friends of Flight 93 and the National Park Services, is a 2-day event which 6,000 seedlings per day are planted with a goal of creating a windbreak for the 40 Memorial Groves, making a living memorial to the passengers and crew members of Flight 93, healing the landscape and improving wildlife habitats.

This year’s planting efforts will help to achieve the ultimate goal of planting over 150,000 new seedlings, including American Chestnuts.
